1914-1917 specialized in otolaryngology at Petrograd Clinical Institute (now Leningrad Institute of Postgraduate Medical Training). 1918-1935 military surgeon in Red Army. 1921-1923 also supernumerary assistant professor, assistant professor and associate professor, from 1934 professor, Otolaryngological Clinic, Leningrad Institute of Postgraduate Medical Training.
1935-1961 founder-head Chair of Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases, Leningrad Pediatric Medical Institute. During World War 2 consultant, various hospitals on Leningrad Front.
Board member, Leningrad, All-Russian and All-Union Social of Otolaryngologists. Company-ed, “Otolaryngology” section, “Bol’shaya meditsinskaya entsiklopediya” (Large Medical Encyclopedia) (2nd ed). Devised “closed” methods of treating mastoiditis in children, and cerebral and cerebellar abscesses.
Also devised conservative surgical methods of treating laryngal tumors and endonasal operations for tumors of the hypophysis cerebri and labyrinthine fenestration;wroteover90 works.
