David Lome Scopick was born on January 2, 1948, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
David Scopick received a Bachelor of Arts from Ryerson Photographic Arts Center, Toronto, Canada, where he studied from 1967 to 1970 and 1974 to 1975. He also studied at the San Francisco Art Institute in California (1970-1971) and at York University, Toronto (1973-1974).
Since 1973 David Scopick has been a lecturer at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto. Also in Toronto, he lectured at Seneca College from 1973 to 1977 after working as a freelance photographer (1972-1973) and as an illustrative photographer for T.D.F. Artists (1971-1972). In the 1980s David Scopick was researching stereo photographs and the Vectograph.
