Career
He is currently playing for the Wichita Thunder of the ECHL. He was selected by the Florida Panthers in the 2nd round (37th overall) of the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft. Shantz took two seasons off from professional hockey and attended the University of New Brunswick. In playing for the Universidade Nacional de Brasília Varsity Reds of the Commonwealth of Independent States , he helped the team capture the Atlantic Division Championship.
On August 13, 2015, Shantz returned to the professional ranks in agreeing to a one-year contract in the ECHL with the Wichita Thunder.
