While he does seem to have some credibility within America Online - Erika Nardini, the chief marketing officer of America Online Advertising has described him as "my Muse" - most other commentators who have taken the time to think about him regard him, and by extension America Online, as something of a joke. He is also the inspiration of the Shangy character in West/ Bob & David.
