License es-Sciences, Lyon (France) University, 1964. Geological Engineer, Ecole Nationale Superieure de Geologie Appliquee (ENSG), Nancy (France), 1966. Doctor d'Etat es-Sciences (Geology) with most honors, Nancy (France) University, 1983.
1966-1967: Geological engineer B.R.P.M., Rabat, Morocco (geological survey of metallic minerals).1968-1974: Senior geologist Geological Survey Israel, Jerusalem (survey of industrial minerals and oil shales). 1974-1976: Senior geologist Negev Phosphate Company, geological development of Zin phosphate Field, southern Israel. 1977-2009: Research scientist, Geological Survey Israel (research on phosphogenesis and geochemistry of phosphorites and geological surveys of phosphate deposits in southern Israel).
1986-1987: Visiting scientist B.M.R., Canberra, Australia, Multinational Research Program on phosphorites. 1994-1995: University Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg, France, research on geochemistry of cadmium and fluorine in phosphorite apatites. 1984: Organization committee Seven Conference for Advancement Mineral Engineering (Israel). 1977-1981: Specialist Committee, Israel Bureau of Standards. 1985: Organization Committee, The Israel Geological Society Annual Meeting. 1992-1994: Executive Board of the Israel Geological Survey Scientific Council. Science reviewer of various international science journals.
Achievements include research in putting forward new genetic models for the formation of phosphorites in the geological record, revelation on the key-role of microbial mat-systems in phosphogenesis, comprehensive studies in the geochemistry and mineralogy of Israeli phosphorites and its geological controls, deciphering the geological paleosettings of economic Israeli phosphorites and the related geochemical changes occuring in the pristine phosphate fraction during diagenesis, and new knowledge on the temporal evolution Tethyan phosphogenesis along the southern Tethys using inter-related variations of Ca and Nd isotopes and rates of phosphorus accumulation through time. Also studies on siliceous stromatolites and carbonate thrombolites in the Cambrian of the Negev and discovery of important economic phosphate deposits in Israel.
36 scientific articles in reviewed international journals (first author, nearly all); 41 International conference proceedings and scientific abstracts; 52 final geological research reports.
Member Israel Geological Society (organization committee annual meeting 1985), International Geological Correlation Program 156, SEPM Research group on marine authigenesis, Israel Geological Survey Science Council (executive board 1992-1994).
