David Stewart Klein is an American Fine Artist, illustrator, Composer, and multi-instrumentalist, born and raised in New York City.
Background
Raised in Queens, New York to musicians/orquestra builders Kenneth and Leslie Klein. Klein honed his craft while maturing in Queens, determined to produce his own style and process of artmaking, experimented with many different mediums while and creating comic books before settling in Los Angeles at age 15.
Klein began composing sounds and musical structures at age 11 and formally began writing songs and longer pieces of music at age 14 after finding the guitar.
It is reported that Klein plays 26 instruments, recording almost all of his music himself.
Klein is considered a polymath and an autodidact.
In 2022, Klein opened The Art of DeKay Studio and Gallery, in miracle mile, Los Angeles, CA, 11 years after formally beginning his fine art career in Los Angeles.
Klein has spent much of his professional life based in Los Angeles, CA.
Klein has traveled extensively for his work as a painter, composer and recording artist, exhibiting his artwork nationally, extensively in England, and across multiple countries in Europe. Klein has recorded his compositions at notable recording studios including Real World Studios in Box, England.
