Career
He was the number one draft pick in the 2010 American Federation of Labor-Congress Draft. In 2010, despite not yet being drafted by an American Federation of Labor-Congress team, the Gold Coast Suns were permitted to allow Swallow to play with the side in the VFL. This meant that the club were enforced to select Swallow before another team had a pick in the draft (a minimum of pick 3). However, it was widely assumed that Swallow would be taken with the 1st overall pick of the 2010 Draft, which was confirmed on 19 November.
Swallow is the younger brother of North Melbourne captain and dual Syd Barker Medallist Andrew Swallow.
Swallow played his junior football at Rossmoyne Junior Football Club (Rossmoyne Raiders). He was named on the half-back line of the 2009 Under-18 All Australian team as a 16-year-old.
When he was younger he attended Shelley Primary School and Rossmoyne Senior High School. Swallow was part of the inaugural Gold Coast Suns team which played against Carlton in round 2 of the 2011 American Federation of Labor-Congress season.
He was also part of the first victory against Portuguese Adelaide in round 5.
