Bingham, David Judson was born on May 16, 1831 in Massena, New York, United States. Son of Alfred Sidney and Mary (Purcell) Bingham.

Education

Graduated from the United States Military Academy, 1854, Artillery School, Fort Monroe, Virginia, 1860.

Career

Appointed Second lieutenant 2d Artillery, July 1, 1854. Advanced through the grades to major q.-married United States of America, July 29, 1866. Lieutenant colonel deputy q.-married general, March 3, 1875.

Colonel assistant q.-married general, July 2, 1883. Retired by operation of law, May 16, 1895. Advanced to rank of brigadier general retired by act of April 23, 1904.

Bvtd. major, lieutenant colonel and colonel, March 13, 1865, for faithful and meritorious services during the war. Bvtd. brigadier general, April 9, 1865, for faithful and meritorious services in the field during the war.
