David Julius Witmer, American architect. Witmer, David Julius was born on August 29, 1888 in Los Angeles, California, United States. Son of Joseph Myer and Josephine Smith (Sullivan) Witmer.


Bachelor of Arts, Harvard, 1910, student Graduate School Architecture, 1910-1912.


Draftsman with C.H. Blackall, Boston, 1911, 1912-1914. In practices in Los Angeles, California, 1915-1919. Formed partnership with Loyall F. Watson, 1919, became senior partner.

Active partner Witmer, Watson & Pidgeon. President Allied Architects Association of Los Angeles. Vice president Witmer Brothers Company.

Chief architectural supervisor Federal Housing Administration, Southern California District, 1934-1938. Co-chief architect United States War Department for Pentagon building 1941-1942, chief architect, 1942-1943. Chief control civil affairs div.
