Bvtd. captain, April 2, 1865, “for gallant and meritorious services at Petersburg, Virginia” Engaged in river and harbor engineering, fortifications, lighthouse engineering. Later div. engineer, Pacific Division. President California Debris Commission.
Engineer officer on staff commanding general Department of California. Member various bds. Military representative of the United States at Paris Congress of Electricians, 1881. Traveled in Europe, Asia and Africa.
