To promote the launch of their flagship office in the Nation's Capital in 1970, EF Hutton aired a TV commercial in DC with the Tag Line, "When E.F. Hutton talks, people listen". It turned out to be the most successful Branding slogan ever. It ran nationally until 1986 when Hutton ceased operations. Most Americans over 50 (and some under) still remember it.
Pioneer Airlines was one of the slew of startups after the Carter Administration deregulated Airlines in 1978. Starting with two used 15 passenger prop jets serving 4 small farming towns in Nebraska in July 1979, Pioneer grew to over 400 employees, 20 aircraft, serving 22 cities within a 600 mile radius of Denver's Stapleton Airport. Pioneer flew as far North as Williston, ND, South to Santa Fe NM, West to Jackson Hole WY, and East to Omaha, NE.
Business Information Network (BIN) began as a "bulletin board" operator in 1989 using "client-server" technology for "on-line clients using modems" to access and input information remotely. Because this method allowed very fast results on a multi criteria search, vs. the slower "main frame" competitors, (H&R Block's Compuserve, GE's Genie, IBM's Prodigy,) which allowed only one search criteria to be requested at a time, BIN was able to win a 5 year exclusive contract with the Federal Government's Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC) to disseminate information on-line (to investors, speculators and flippers) about the hundreds of thousands of REO properties the RTC acquired as they took over failed Savings and Loan Banks and Associations who became insolvent in the Real Estate crash of the late 1980's. BIN dubbed that service RTCNET, and provided it free to the government, charging users instead; $39.95 for the floppy disk, $29.95 a month to subscribe, and 50 cents a minute while on line searching, downloading and printing the search results. The RTC provided all the content for free, uploading it to BIN's servers in the early morning hours every day.
