Member Florida House of Representatives from Leon County, 1848-1849. Register of public lands, ex-officio superintendent schools, 1850-1859. The American Association For Justice Florida Supreme Court, 1859-1865.

Governor Florida, 1865-1867. Judge 2d Judicial Circuit Court, 1879-1891.
