Career
Martinelli made his debut in Etixx–Quick-Step jersey in Tour Down Under. He was the lead out man for Fernando Gaviria in the finale, but a crash split the peloton which allowed chances for him to crossed the line ahead of his teammate. Personal Davide Martinelli is the son of former Italian cyclist and Astana Pro Team director sportif Giuseppe Martinelli.
