Career
Before serving in the State Senate, he previously held an office in the State Assembly. He attended public school and graduated from the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland, serving four years in the Civil War as an officer in the United States Navy. He resided in Racine, Wisconsin until 1856 when he moved to Algoma, Wisconsin.
He worked for the Bank of Algoma and was the publisher of the Algoma Record newspaper.
Stebbins died in Algoma on June 12, 1901.
