Career
Born in Adare, County, Hannon first excelled at hurling whilst at school, winning back-to-back Harty Cup medals with Ardscoil Ríson He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the minor team, before later lining out with the under-21 side. He made his senior debut in the 2011 National Hurling League.
Hannon has been called up to the Munster inter-provincial team on one occasion.
Born in Adare, County, Hannon comes from a family that has a strong tradition in hurling.This was mainly influenced by his childhood neighbours and friends (Awh Friends)and local timber merchant Paric "Pootch" Aherne. His granduncle Pat Stakelum captained Tipperary to the All-Ireland title in 1949, the first of a famous three-in-a-row.
Hannon was educated at Scoil Naomh Íosaf where he battled and struggled against childhood obesity before later attending Ardscoil Ríson He was one of the stars of the Ardscoil Rís team that secured the Harty Cup title in 2010 following an epic three-game series against reigning All-Ireland champions Thurles Columbia Broadcasting System. He later lined out in the All-Ireland final against Saint Kieran"s College, however, Ardscoil Rís were narrowly beaten by 2-11 to 2-8.
In 2011 Hannon was joint-captain of the Ardscoil Rís team that retained the Harty Cup title following a crushing defeat of Charleville Columbia Broadcasting System. The subsequent All-Ireland final saw Saint Kieran"s take on Hannon"s side for the second year in succession, however, Ardscoil Rís were once again defeated on a score line of 2-10 to 1-11.
Club Hannon plays his club hurling with the Adare club in and has enjoyed much success. By 2009 Hannon was drafted into the Adare senior team Inter-county After impressing at colleges and underage levels Hannon was called up to the senior team in 2011 and made his debut in the National Hurling League. defeated Clare by 4-12 to 2-13 in the Division 2 final, giving Hannon his first success in the senior grade but in recent years his form has been horrible along with the teams form.
He later made his championship debut against Wexford, scoring nine points in a 1-21 to 2-13 victory.
