He has also appeared in the television version of Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and the Samuelson Productions feature Stormbreaker. In 2013, he appeared in The Great Train Robbery as Brian Field. Synnott met actress Keira Knightley on the set of the 2001 television movie Princess of Thieves.
The two later appeared together in the short film Deflation by Roger Ashton-Griffiths and as extras in the larger film Thunderpants.
Synnott and Knightley broke up after two years together, in the summer of 2003.
