Special writer on Arctic matters. Wrote full page prediction of discovery of North pole printed in Herald August 29, 1909, 4 days before word was received from Commander Peary announcing his achievement.
Was sent North to Battle Harbor, Labrador, by the Herald to meet Peary on the Roosevelt on his return from the Pole. Went as correspondent in World War to British and Belgian fronts and Zeebrugge, and was with American Squadron of the Grand Fleet in the North Sea at the surrender of the German High Seas Fleet.
