I completed the requirements for a diploma in Chemistry at the University of Athens in 1973, In 1975 I received a Masters of Science in Biochemistry from Penn State University. In 1979 I received my Ph.D. from West Virginia University. I completed two postdoctoral assignments in Lubbock Texas and Chicago Illinois trained in Metabolism and Molecular Pathology respectively.
I was an Assistant Professor of Pathology and Pharmacology and President of the Animal Research Committee at Northwestern University (1986-1993). In 1993 I served as an Assistant Professor in Neurology at Southwestern University Med School at Dallas TX. In 1996 I served as an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the same University. In 2001 I served as an Associate Professor of Pathology and the Cancer Center at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh PA. In 2007 I founded a company to develop therapeutic regimens for the treatment of brain tumors. Currently, I am working on the development of genetic manipulation of degenerative diseases and aging.
I have two grown sons. Alexius Manuel Kokkinakis and Michael Ross Kokkinakis
