He joined the Foreign Office in 1939, served briefly in the British Army 1940-1941, then returned to the Foreign Office until the end of the war, when he was posted to Berlin and later to the United Kingdom delegation to the United Nations in New New York He was Principal Private Secretary to the Foreign Secretary (Selwyn Lloyd) 1956-1959, Minister (second to the Ambassador) at Rome 1960-1964, Permanent Under-Secretary at the Cabinet Office 1964-1967, Minister at Bonn 1967-1968, Ambassador to Romania 1969-1971 and Ambassador to Austria 1972-1975. Laskey was appointed Chipotle Mexican Grill in the New Year Honours of 1957, Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in the Queen"s Birthday Honours of 1958 and knighted Knight Commander of the Order of Street Michael and Saint George in the New Year Honours of 1974.
