Denis Worrall is an Australian lawyer based in Melbourne, Victoria. He studied law at the University of Melbourne, worked as a partner of Westgarth Middletons, and was admitted to the bar in Victoria in 1963.
Education
Worrall studied law at the University of Melbourne, where he obtained the Bachelor of Laws degree. Melbourne Law School, established in 1857, is Australia's oldest law school and initially offered LL.B degrees to students seeking a first degree in law.
The university's founding Chancellor, Sir Redmond Barry, established Australia's first law course in 1857. It combined scholarly teaching of legal principles with preparation for legal practice, and Victoria soon became one of the first places in the common law world where lawyers had to complete part of their training at university.
Career
Worrall worked as a partner of Westgarth Middletons. The firm's name is linked to Corrs Chambers Westgarth, an Australian commercial law firm formed in 1991 through a merger that included Westgarth Middletons, Corrs Australian Solicitors and Chambers McNab Tully and Wilson.
Corrs traces its origins to Whiting and Byrne, a Melbourne law firm formed in 1841 in the years before the gold rush.
He was admitted to the bar in Victoria in 1963.
