He had his debut on the final day of the 1976-1977 season against West Bromwich Albion with Stoke already relegated to the Second Division. He made just one sub appearance in 1977-1978 and didn"t make on in 1978-1979 instead he spent it playing in the United States for California Surf. He then spent the 1979-1980 season on loan at Blackburn Rovers where he made four appearances.
In 1980-1981 he played in 13 matches under Alan Durban but failed to impress and was released at the end of the campaign.
