Denzaemon Tanaka was born in 1907 in Tokyo, Japan.
He received instructions from his father Denzaemon X (later called Ryogetsu) since 1913 and made his first appearance on the stage when he played the drum for Tsuru Kame (1917). He succeeded the name of Sataro Tanaka XIII (1920). He succeeded to the stage name Denzaemon X I (1946) and became head master of Tanaka-ryu school of Kozutsumi (small drum) playing at the same time.
