Served Crimean War; entered Indian Medical Service, 1859. Served China War, 1860. Member of mission to King Theodore of Abyssinia, 1864, and was detained prisoner and in chains at Magdala for nearly two years.
Senior Surgeon and Professor of Surgery, Grant Medical College, Bombay.
Retired with rank of Deputy-Surgeon-General, 1887. Consulting physician at Cannes.
