Kitchen graduated from Raines High School, in his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida, in 2005.

He is a 6"4" tall combo guard. Afterwards, he considered playing college basketball at several colleges, and initially agreed to play at the University of Florida, with the Florida Gators, but was ruled ineligible for the 2005-2006 season due to his academics. He wanted to play college basketball during the 2006-2007 season with Saint Johns" college basketball team, the Saint John"s Red Storm, but was again ruled academically ineligible.
During the 2007-2008 season, Kitchen played for Iowa Western Community College"s college basketball team, where he averaged 14 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.
Then, he went on to play with Florida State"s team, the Seminoles, for three seasons. He went undrafted at the 2011 National Basketball Association Draft.
In July 2011, he signed a contract with the pro club Maccabi Rishon of the Israeli Super League. During his debut professional season, Kitchen averaged 14.9 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.8 steals per game in the Israeli Super League.
In 2012, he played in the National Basketball Association Summer League with the Denver Nuggets.
Following his debut season, he moved to the Euroleague club Panathinaikos Athens of the Greek League. In December 2012, he was loaned to Cedevita Zagreb for the rest of the season. On August 8, 2013, Kitchen returned to Israel and signed a one-year deal with Hapoel Jerusalem.
In June 2014, he signed a two-year contract extension with Hapoel.
In the summer of 2015, he parted ways with Hapoel. On November 20, 2015, he signed with the French club SLUC Nancy Basket.
In late December 2015, he left Nancy and signed with the Turkish club Trabzonspor.
