Wieler attended Southern Alberta Institute of Technology from 1979 to 1980.
Working first in radio in Calgary, and then for a newspaper in Saskatoon, proved to be valuable training for a writing career, which Wieler pursues full time since 1989. She has also ventured into screenwriting, working and living in Winnipeg, Canada.
Diana Wider, author of short stories, picture books, and novels, is solidly established as one of Canada’s best and most interesting authors for young adults. Her work is published in Canada, the United States, Germany, Denmark and Holland and includes such books as A Dog On His Own, To the Mountains by Morning, The Boy Who Walked Backwards, The Finder, Last Chance Summer, Bad Boy, Ran Van the Defender, and Ran Van: A Worthy Opponent.
