Background

Glyer, Diana Pavlac was born on January 21, 1956 in Aberdeen, Maryland, United States. Daughter of James and Christel (Reichelt) Sainsbury.

Education

Bachelor, Bachelor of Science, Bowling Green State University, 1978. Master of Science in Education, Northern Illinois University, 1981. Doctor of Philosophy in English, University Illinois, Chicago, 1992.

Career

She received her master's degree in Education from Northern Illinois University, and her Ph.D in English from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is a Professor of English at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California. S. R. R. S. R. R. Glyer has been active in science fiction fandom since 1975 and has worked on dozens of conventions.

In 1998, she chaired Mythcon 29, the C.S. Lewis Centenary Celebration at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois.

Achievements

  • The Company They Keep won the Mythopoeic Scholarship Award (Inklings Studies) and was a finalist for the 2008 Hugo Award for Best Related Book at Denvention 3, the 66th World Science Fiction Convention. Glyer has also received the Marion E. Wade Center's Clyde S. Kilby Research Grant (1997), and Azusa Pacific University's Chase Sawtell Inspirational Teaching Award (2002) and Scholarly Achievement Award (2008).
