Career
Born in, County, Cloonan first excelled at hurling whilst at school at Vocational School. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He joined the senior panel for the 2001 championship.
He was an All-Ireland runner-up as a non-playing substitute on one occasion.
At club level he is a one-time All-Ireland medallist with. Cloonan"s retirement came following the conclusion of the 2007 championship.
