Career
He is the brother of cultural figure Don Cherry. Cherry played junior hockey for the Barrie Flyers, then professional hockey for the Boston Bruins for the 1956-1957 season. Only playing in the National Hockey League for one season, Cherry moved back to junior hockey, playing for the Kingston Frontenacs, scoring 60 points in 53 games.
Cherry retired in 1963 to teach high-school in Kingston.
In the 1968-1969 season, Cherry returned to the National Hockey League to play for the Philadelphia Flyers, where he remained for 2 years. He played 145 National Hockey League games in total.
