Background
Andina, Diego was born in, Madrid Spain, where he founded and headed the Group for Automation in Signals and Communications in Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, (GASC/UPM), research group interested in Multidisciplinar Applications of Signal Processing and Machine Learning: Man-Machine Systems&Cybernetics. Coautor of more than 300 national and international scientific publications, directed more than 60 R+D projects and is Associate Editorial Member of several top-ranked international research Journals, having participated in the organization of more than 80 international Research, Innovation and/or Technology Transfer events.
After realizing that the high corruption levels in spanish universities is the main obstacle to develope successful professors' activities, he has dedicated his life to protect academic freedom and shared governance, to define fundamental professional values and standards for higher education, to ensure higher education's contribution to the common good., to fight against corruption in public administration and shape spanish higher education by developing the standards and procedures that maintain quality in education and academic freedom in the country's universities.
