Achievements

He won a gold medal in the K-1 4×500 m event at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome (with Paul Lange, Günther Perleberg and Friedhelm Wentzke). Krause also won four medals at the International Coach Federation Canoe Sprint World Championships with a gold (K-4 1000 m: 1963), a silver (K-2 1000 m: 1963), and two bronzes (K-1 500 m: 1958, K-1 4×500 m: 1963).
