Career
He is 1.92 m (6 ft 3¾) tall. He can play both the point guard and shooting guard positions. Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, Verginis started his career playing with the Asteria Panoramatos junior teams in Greece, and he played with the senior team of Anatolia in the 2004-2005 season.
He debuted in the both Greek League and the EuroChallenge in the 2005-2006 season with PAOK. In the 2006-2007 season, he played in the Eurocup for the first time.
He was selected to the EuroChallenge All-Star Game in the 2007-2008 season. Verginis was the youngest player to ever be named the team captain in the history of PAOK, when he took over that role from Kostas Vasileiadis.
In 2008, he left PAOK and joined the Greek club Panathinaikos. Verginis stayed with Panathinaikos for 2 years.
In 2010, he signed with Aris, where he played until June 2012.
He then signed with Bilbao Basket in June 2012, and stayed with them through the preseason. He then returned to Aris for the 2012-2013 season. He then moved to Lukoil Academic for the 2013-2014 season.
He joined Panionios for the 2014-2015 season.
Verginis played with several of the Greek junior national teams. He played at 2003 International Basketball Federation Europe Under-16 Championship, both the 2004 and 2005 International Basketball Federation Europe Under-18 Championships, and at both the 2006 and 2007 International Basketball Federation Europe Under-20 Championships.
