Having begun skating in 2005, Aliev trained in Ukhta until 2013 when he moved to Saint St. Petersburg, becoming a student of Evgeni Rukavicin. 2014-2015 season
Aliev debuted on the International Skating Union Junior Grand Prix series in the 2014-2015 season. Making his senior international debut, he placed 10th at the 2014 Golden Spin of Zagreb, an International Skating Union Challenger Series event.
2015-2016 season
In 2015-2016, Aliev"s first assignment was the Junior Grand Prix event in Riga, Latvia.
He was awarded his second JGP gold medal in Linz, Austria, by a margin of over 14 points ahead of silver medalist, Vincent Zhou. These results qualified Aliev for the 2015-2016 JGP Final in Barcelona.
On December 24-27, Aliev finished 6th at the 2016 Russian Championships held in Ekaterinburg, Russia.
He is the 2015-2016 Junior Grand Prix Final silver medalist and the two-time 2016 Youth Olympic medalist (bronze in the men"s singles discipline and gold in the team event). Awarded bronze medals in Ljubljana, Slovenia and Aichi, Japan, he finished as the third alternate for a place at the JGP Final. Returning to the junior ranks, he won bronze medals at the 2015 Russian Junior Championships and 2015 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival. Placing 6th in the short program and first in the free skate, he won the gold medal by a margin of 5.32 points ahead of Latvia"s Deniss Vasiļjevs. Competing on the senior level, he then went on to win bronze at 2015 International Cup of Nice and silver at 2015 Tallinn Trophy. Aliev then won the silver medal at the 2015-2016 JGP Final behind American Nathan Chen. On January 21-23 in Chelyabinsk, Russia, Aliev won his first junior national title at the 2016 Russian Junior Championships. He then won the bronze medal in the men"s singles discipline and the gold medal in the team event at the 2016 Youth Olympics.
