His last club as a manager before unexpected retirement in June 2013 was Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk. He is one of the most successful coaches in Kazakhstan. Ogai played seven seasons in the Soviet Top League with Football Club Kairat and Football Club Pakhtakor Tashkent, appearing in over 100 league matches.
