Dmitrii Pavlov, USSR General.


Pavlov, Dmitrii was born in 1897.


Joined the Red Army and the Bolshevik Party, 1919. Took part in the Soviet-Finnish war, 1939-1940. Commander of the Belorussian military district, 1940.

Commander of the Western front at the time of the surprise German attack and the complete defeat of Soviet forces in the summer of 1941. Blamed by Stalin for the collapse of the Western front. Summoned to Moscow, courtmartialled and shot on Stalin’s orders.

His relatives have conducted a long campaign for his rehabilitation.
