Dmitriy KORZHINSKY, USSR Geologist and petrographer. Professor; full member, USSR Academy of Science, since 1953; associate, Institute for the Geology of Ore Deposits, Petrography, Mineralogy and Geochemistry, USSR Academy of Science, since 1956. Stalin Prize, 1946; Lenin Prize, 1958; Karpinsky Prize of USSR Academy of Science, 1949; Order of Lenin; Order of Red Banner of Labor; medals.


KORZHINSKY, Dmitriy was born in 1899. Son of well-known Russ, botanist S. I. Korzhinsky.


1926 graduated Leningrad Mining Institute.


1943-1953 corresponding member, USSR Academy of Science. Since 1960 Bureau member,Department of Geology and Geography Science, USSR Academy of Science. Studied Pre-Cambrian crystalline rocks and their concomitant minerals in Yakutia and Eastern Siberia and skarn ore deposits of Urals and Central Asia.

Main works deal with physicochemical analysis of mineralization processes. 1926-1937 on Geology Committee, then at Central Geology Survey Research Institute. 1929-1940 Assistant, lecturer, then Professor, Leningrad Mining Institute.

1937-1956 at Institute of Geology Science, USSR Academy of Science.
