NASONOV, Dmitriy was born on September 10, 1896 in Warsaw. Son of the zoologist, Academy N.V. Nasonov.
1919 graduate Natural Sciences Department, Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, Pctrograd University.
1919-1935 lecturer, from 1935 professor, Leningrad University. 1933-1950 also senior associate, All-Union Institute of Experimental Medical, Leningrad. 1955-1957 founder-director, Institute of Cytology, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences.
Company-ed, biology section, “Bol’shaya meditsinskaya entsiklopcdiya” (Large Medical Encyclopedia) (2nd ed). Member, ed council, journal "Arkhiv anatomii, gistologii i embriologii”. Did research on laws governing the reaction of living tissues to environmental influences.
Explained the role of Golgi's body in cellular secretory processes. Established a homologue between Golgi’s body in the cells of metazoans and the contractile vacuole of protozoans. Devised cell-damage theory, according to which the paranecrotic reaction of protoplasm to injurious agents results from denaturational lesions of the cell proteins.
Expanded this theory to explain cell excitation. Also devised new phase theory of bio-electr currents and formulated the “law of self-regulation of divaricate excitation”.
Correspondent member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences from 1943. Member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Medical Sciences from 1945.
