1918 joined North.N. Sinel’nikov’s Drama Company, Khar’kov. 1920 acted with V.B. Vil’ner and Meyerhold’s companies in Novorossiysk. 1922 joined Meyerhold’s Higher Theatrical Workshops in Moscow.
1920-1921 at Lunacharskiy Theater, Krasnodar. From 1922 actor, Moscow Theater of the Revol. From 1941 at Moscow Drama Theater.
From 1944 at Moscow Academy Arts Theater. From 1931 also gave dramatic readings. Acted in various Films.
Roles: Rasplyuyev in Sukhovo-Kobylin’s Smert’ Tarelkina (The Death of Tarelkin). Semyon Rak in Romashov’s Vozdushnyy pirog (The Meringue). Stepan in Pogodin’s Poema o topore (The Poem of the Axe).
Umka in Sel’vinskiy’s Umka — belyy medved’ (Umka the Polar Bear). Tristan and Mengo in Lope de Vega’s “Dog in a Manger” and “Fuente Ovejuna”. Globa in Simonov’s Russkiye lyudi (Russian People).
