1916-1921 studied Lower Volga, mainly at Saratov Agrie Experimental Station. From 1921 at Agrie Faculty, Tiflis Polytech Institute. 1924-1930 professor of botany, Khar’kov Agrie Institute, then professor of soil sci, Soil Improvement Institute.
Then professor of soil sci and head Chair of Soil Geography, Moscow University. President, International Commission for the Classification, Cartography and Geography of Soils. Vice-president, Solonetz Subcommission, International ‘Social of Soil Scientists.
Member, Organization(s) Bureau, All-Union Social of Soil Scientists. Company-ed, journal “Pochvovedeniye”. Attended International Congress of Soil Scientists in United States of America.
Also visited Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia and Hungary. Contributed articles to journals “Pochvovedeniye”, “Vestnik MGU", “Vestnik Academy of Sciences Soviet Socialist Republic”, et cetera
