Studied in a three-class city school and in the 1 st Petrograd classical gymnasium. Graduated from 3rd Music School and the Musical College named after A.N. Skryabin in 1925. Graduated from the Moscow Conservatoire in composition class with N.Ya Myaskovsky and in piano class with A.B. Goldenweiser in 1930.
In March 1942 he was on a business trip in Voronezh (and also in the places of military operations near Voronezh), during which a meeting with students and teachers of the Voronezh Musical College was held: Kabalevsky acted as a pianist-soloist and accompanist (soloist T. Tselikovsky).
Kabalevsky created in Voronezh "Song in a whisper", a suite for the chorus and orchestra "People's Avengers" and others.
In 1963, Kabalevsky performed in Voronezh with the author's concert, conducted music classes in a number of schools.
