Dmitry Dmitrievich Blagovo (Pimen) was born on September 28 (October 10), 1827 in Moscow, Russian Federation. Belonged to an old noble family.
Dmitry Dmitrievich received home education. In 1849 he graduated from the Law Faculty of Moscow University.
Until 1859, Dmitry Dmitrievich served in the office of the Moscow Governor-General A.A. Zakrevsky. During this period, he wrote down the memoirs of his grandmother Elizabeth Petrovna Yankova. In the book "Grandma's Tales", the text of which he supplemented with family archive materials and notes, the everyday life of the Moscow aristocracy in the 2nd half of the 18th - 1st half of the 19th centuries is recreated.
In 1867-1880 Dmitry Dmitrievich was a novice of the Ugresha Monastery. In 1872 and 1881 he published two historical essays dedicated to this monastery. In 1882, in the Tolga Vvedensky monastery, he was tonsured a monk with the name Pimen. In 1884 he was ordained to the rank of archimandrite.
The last years of his life served as the rector of the church of the Russian Embassy in Rome. His works in Rome opened a shelter in honor of St. Stanislav, and also collected many rare book editions for Russian libraries.
Pymen was married, but his family life was unsuccessful.
