Takeda Doan was born in Kyoto in 1584. His ancestors came from Aki (Hiroshima Prefecture).
He is said to have been very studious and a student of Seika Fujiwara and Nobukatsu Hayashi.
Doan Takeda rose to become a prominent physician in Edo. Was soon appointed physician to the Imperial Court and in recognition of his prowess which helped Emperor Gomino-o and Shogun Hidetada Tokugawa overcome their illnesses he was given the title of Hein.
