Studied art under Hanko Kajita and Kokei Kobayashi and became a member of Nihon Bijutsuin (1932).
Dogyu Okumura established his reputation as a brilliant artist with the exhibition of his work titled "Duck" at Teiten Exhibition (1936). His works show good classic taste with splashes of modernity and are highly regarded by art critics. His work titled Maiko (Dancing Girl) which was displayed at the Inten Exhibition of Art (1954) created favorable comment in art circles.
