Career
Geiman is involved in ecologically-friendly work, salvaging and repurposing found objects and materials within mixed media creations. He produces new artwork and operates his business from within the Chicago Sustainable Manufacturing Center, the first sustainably renovated structure in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Geiman"s contemporary art practice reflects folk art, outsider art, and environmental art traditions, and is influenced by Botanical illustration and Graphic design. He regularly works in Collage and assemblage using recycled and salvaged materials such as paper, wood and metal.
His artwork has been featured in American Craft, Cowboys & Indians Magazine, Uppercase Magazine, Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune.
In 2013, the American Craft Council described his work as "urban Americana at its very best."
A former Interpretive Naturalist for the United States Forest Service and a James Madison University graduate (Bachelor of Fine Arts, 2001), Geiman founded his business, Dolan Geiman Incorporated.: Contemporary Art with a Southern Accent, in 2005. He previously sold artwork independently and operated the artist-run center, Hockshop, in Chicago"s Pilsen neighborhood from 2003-2005.
Geiman is an Etsy seller and a fixture in the DIY Ethic inspired craft fair circuit, having exhibited his work at The Renegade Craft Fair, Art versus Craft, and more. Geiman has worked on site-specific commissions and interior decor art placements with Fossil, Incorporated., Hyatt, Omni Hotels & Resorts, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Rockit Ranch Productions and YouTube.
His work has also been sold via Anthropologie, Pendleton Woolen Mills, and Urban Outfitters.
