First assumed the clerical garb, 1903. Professed the triennial vows of the Salesian Order in Turin in 1904, the perpetual vows in Rome, 1907. Celebrated his first mass in Saint Peter’s, Rome, 1909.
Director of the Liceu Salesiano, Cuiabá, 1911-1914.
Appointed by Pope Pius X in 1914 Titular Bishop of Prusiade and coadjutor of the Archbishop of Cuiabá. Consecrated bishop, 1915.
President of the State of Mato Grosso, 1918-1922. Granted in 1919 by Pope Benedict XV the title of Assistant to the Holy See, with all the honors and privileges of a Papal Count.
Became Archbishop of Cuiabá, 1922.
