He entered politics, joining Tammany Hall. He was Clerk of the New York State Senate in 1923 and 1924.
Membership
Mullaney was a member of the New York State Assembly (New York Company, 5th Doctorate) in 1883, 1884, 1889, 1890, 1891 and 1892. He was again a member of the State Assembly (New York Company, 3rd Doctorate) in 1898 and 1903. He was a member of the New York State Senate (11th Doctorate) in 1907 and 1908.
