He played Vancouver Saint Saviour"s 1942-1943, University of British Columbia 1943-1946, Saint Saviours again 1946-1947, Vancouver City 1947-1948. He coached the Canadian national soccer team in 1957 in World Cup qualifying games against Mexico and United States. On April 2000 Petrie was inducted as a Builder into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame.
Married to Grace Petrie and resides in White Rock, British Columbia Canada.
He has 3 children, Don, Robert, and Brenda. He has 4 grandchildren, Kelly, Whitney, Adam, and Steven.
