Wemer received a BA degree in Art and Art Education in 1952 from Fresno State College in Fresno, California. He also studied at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles.
Since 1978 Wemer has been the exhibitions and graphics designer for the Museum of the American Indian in New York City. Prior to that he designed photo exhibitions for the Neikrug Galleries in New York City (1976), and did exhibitions and graphics design for the Hudson River Museum (1969-76). The photographer is interested in “images of strong graphic character and poetry, communication of ideas and man in his landscape."
