After graduating from Federal Way High School in Washington, Marshall chose to play at Connecticut.

Was named to the National Collegiate Athletic Association All-Tournament team as a senior averaging over 23 points a game in the tourney. Marshall was later named to Uconn"s All-Century team (top 25 players in school history) and was also two time All-Big East Team member, leading the Big East in free throw shooting his senior year. He was then selected in the 2nd round (39th overall) of the 1995 National Basketball Association Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Marshall went on to play in five seasons in the National Basketball Association with the Milwaukee Buckinghamshire and the New Jersey Nets.
With the Nets, Marshall made it to consecutive National Basketball Association Finals in 2001-2002 and 2002-2003. In his National Basketball Association career, Marshall played in 119 games and amassed a total of 293 points.
Marshall has been in television broadcasting 13 years and worked as a color commentator for the Boston Celtics on Comcast SportsNet in New England for 8 years covering over 650 National Basketball Association games. He was also a color commentator for National Broadcasting Company Sports Network college basketball telecasts.
Marshall provided basketball color commentary for National Broadcasting Company at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Donny currently is an National Basketball Association analyst for the Brooklyn Nets and National Basketball Association/National Collegiate Athletic Association basketball analyst for FOX Sports.
