Dorothy Cannell is best known as a mystery writer, who during her career has published eighteen novels and a collection of short stories, which include her famous Ellie Haskell Series. Cannell's first Ellie Haskell novel, The Thin Woman, was selected as one of the "100 Favorite Mysteries of the Twentieth Century" by the Independent Mystery Booksellers Association.
As for her short stories, they have been published in a variety of anthologies and magazines. Several have been nominated for the Agatha award.
