(Follow Vaghi-an Indian temple cloth printer- and his fami...)
Follow Vaghi-an Indian temple cloth printer- and his family through a few days in their lives, and catch a glimpse in to the traditional way of life of Indian craftspeople in the ancient town of Ahmadabad, in the province town of Gujurat, India. The book describes the processes Vaghi and his family use to create temple cloths using carved blocks and dye baths. Through the text and the fine photographs that illustrate the book, and through the images from the temple cloths themselves, a vivid picture of an artisan's life is created. An added treat for readers is that the Hindi stories represented by the images on the cloths ar related as Vaghi works. Useful in social studies, language arts, and fine arts programs, and in any class with a multicultural focus.
